X.M. "Bea" Taylor, Jr. of Blakely passed away on Wednesday afternoon, August 05, 2020, at his residence following an extended illness.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 08, 2020, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Williams officiating.David "Skinchy" Chambliss, Steven Taylor, Fred "Buddy" Taylor, Jamie Taylor, Shane Taylor, and Holden Taylor will serve as active pallbearers along with Russell Lovering, Robert Love, Jimmy Houston, Bad Eye Chambliss, Al Hutchins, and Billy White serving as honorary pallbearers.Interment will follow in Blakely Cemetery at approximately 10:45 a.m. if you would prefer attending the graveside.The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.
Bea was born on April 22, 1946 in Shellman, GA. to his namesake and Nancy Lucille Shattles Taylor.Helping to serve our country's need for supplies, he worked in the trucking industry throughout the majority of his career where he delivered fuel for Florida Rock & Tank Lines for numerous years among other companies.If the fish weren't biting, Bea enjoyed NASCAR and Georgia Football.Though he was pretty opinionated and annoyed by Barney Fife's gullibility, he loved Andy Griffith reruns, watching westerns and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his sons, Scott Taylor of Dothan and Steve Taylor of Bainbridge; three daughters, Regina Floyd (Greg), Madeline Shattles, and Melissa Kimbrel (Jimmy) all of Blakely; his ex-wife and caretaker, Mary Jean Harper Taylor; two sisters, Denise Hancock and Theresa Hester of Milledgeville, GA; his brothers, Frank Taylor (Ellen) of Chipley, FL, David Taylor of Bainbridge, Dave Bruner of Edison and Chad Haley (Amber) of Dothan; a sister-in-law, Annette Taylor and a brother-in-law, David Chambliss both of Blakely; thirteen grandchildren, T.G., Keith, Whitney, Lexy, Cory, Cody, Paxton, Alyssa, Little Lexi, Carley, Jeffry, Brandon, and Logan; eleven great-grandchildren, Trent, Bailey, Zoee, Tylek, Rubee, Kasie, Gracie, Kora, Mylee, Bentley and one on the way, Georgia Kate.
In addition to his parents, Bea was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Chambliss and Hattie Marie Taylor; a half-sister, Hattie Taylor; and five brothers, Rufus, Jack, Monroe & Fred Taylor, and Sammy Shattles.
