Willie Clyde Henderson formerly of Blakely, Georgia, living for the last seventeen years in Gainesville, Georgia, passed peacefully into Heaven on January 18, 2022.
Willie, as she was known to most, was 93, enjoyed a full life, most of which she lived in Blakely. She was known for her love of family, friends, church, flowers and gardening. Most importantly she will be remembered for her faithfulness and service to God.
Mrs. Henderson was a retired schoolteacher, a career she embraced and loved. Her love or teaching was shared with teens and ladies of her church, Blakely First Free Will Baptist Church. She was, also, involved with Women Nationally Active for Christ; while supporting Gospel missions through her church. While living in Early County, serving her local community was very important to her – she loved the Blakely and Early County Communities!
Everyone who knew Willie Clyde, knew of her love of flowers and vegetable gardening. Her yard was a tribute to many tireless hours spent making her little corner of the world more beautiful. This was her form of therapy, and she didn't mind getting her hands dirty!
She will be missed by her family, whom she always supported their every endeavor; including mission trips, school activities and projects, or whatever. "Grandmama" was always involved with her encouragement and enthusiasm.
"Please let Willie know!", was a common and regular refrain when anyone who knew her had a prayer request. The most important role Mrs. Henderson fulfilled was that of Prayer Warrior. "Have you prayed about it?", was her ready response to any, and all, needs. She went to God with everything, for everyone; family and friends. She took full advantage of her relationship to Jesus Christ, and she openly shared that with those around her.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by her daughter, Joy McKinney (Billy) of Braselton, GA, and her grandchildren, Josh McKinney, Austin McKinney (Tracy) and Allison Teter (Mike). Will and Jack McKinney, and John Michael, Augusta (AJ), Leila Teter, are her five great grands. Beloved nieces and nephews, also, survive this sweet lady.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Jack Henderson, son, Thomas Keith Henderson. Also, she was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Janie Johnson, and her sisters, Cora Lee Cleveland and Jacqueline (Jackie) Welden.
Two Celebration of Life services will be held. One at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely. Saturday, Jan. 22, 11:00 AM. Visitation prior at 10 AM. Interment will be in the Blakely Cemetery.
A second memorial service will be observed (for her church family and friends gained while living in North GA) February 13 (details to come).
In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be made to the First Blakely Free Will Baptist Church, 329 S Church Street, Blakely, Georgia 39823
