BLAKELY, GEORGA. . .William Jimmy Weaver, a resident of Blakely, Georgia, died late Friday night, February 4, 2022, at his home. He was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. (EST), Monday, February 7, 2022, in the Sowhatchee Baptist Church with Pastor Hubert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Sowhatchee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. (EST), Monday in the sanctuary of the Sowhatchee Baptist Church. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary and Cremations, Headland, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sowhatchee Baptist Church, c/o Mary Holmes, 10581 Cedar Springs Road, Blakely, GA 39823 or to the Sowhatchee Cemetery Fund, c/o Kay Willis, 14859 Cedar Springs Road, Blakely, GA 39823.
Mr. Weaver was born and reared in Colquitt, Georgia, son of the late Felix Weaver and Frances Jowers Weaver. He lived in the Sowhatchee Community in Early County most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Weaver was member of the Sowhatchee Baptist Church. He was retired from Georgia Pacific in Cedar Springs, Georgia as a Shipping Clerk. Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by a son, James Weaver, a brother, Edward Weaver, and the mother of his children, Ruth Meredith Weaver.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Shirley Smith Weaver, a daughter, Diane Temples (Mike), a son, David Weaver (Cindy), and a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Weaver, all of Blakely, GA; step-children, Lynn Riley (Keith) and Willie Smith, all of Midland City, AL; and Michael Smith, Ashford, AL; six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jamie McPherson, Ashley Temples, Shawn Smith, Andy Smith, Brad Beasley, Roderick Matthews, Willie Smith and Michael Smith. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Holmes, Rex Henderson, Claude Hill and Kris Smith.
The family would like to express their appreciation to his granddaughter and special caregiver, Jamie Smith, for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Weaver during his illness.
