Sylvia Ann Helms Hood, 65, of 17768 Ga. Hwy 39, Blakely, Ga, died early Tuesday morning Nov. 1, 2016 , as a result of a traffic accident. Her funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with the Rev. Garth Duke-Barton officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation starting at 1 PM. The burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, Ga.Pallbearers will be Sheriff William Price, Deputy Nate Wimberly, Captain Terry Jordan,Lieutenant Jimmy Jackson, Ray Harrell and Lem Williams.
Sylvia was born on July 22, 1951 in Donalsonville, GA to the late Francis Sylvester Helms and Jelimma Cox Helms. She is the current Early County Tax Commissioner, having held that position for several terms and also, she holds the position of Sheriff Ex Parte for Early County. She was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church of Donalsonville, GA.
Her survivors include her husband: Kevin Michael Hood, Sr.;a son: Kevin L. Houston and his wife Kristal; a step-son, Kevin Hood, Jr., all of Blakely, GA. Her sister is Loretta Helms Dunbar and her husband Rick of Columbus, GA. She has 1 grandson: Nicholas Francis Houston of Blakely.
