Richard Spencer Mueller,76, of Blakely, Ga, passed away on February 21, 2020 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020, at First Baptist Church of Blakely with Rev. Keith Alderman officiating.Interment will follow at the Blakely Cemetery with Andrew Mueller, Mason Mueller, Paul Spence, Stuart Spence, Sam Clinkscales, and Tommy Hall serving as pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00, prior to the service.
Spencer was born July 12, 1943 in St. Andrews, Fl, the only child of the late Richard William "Dick" and Bobbie Marjorie Spence Mueller.He was a graduate of Early County High School and moved on to the University of Georgia where he completed his undergraduate studies and later received a Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University. Spencer initially assumed his position as Early County Administrator in December of 1985 before filling the role as District 8 & 10 Representative of the Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs from 1998 to 2009.After serving in equivalent positions in Clay County and Georgetown-Quitman, he returned to Early County in August of 2015.He was a past-President of the Georgia County Managers Association, a member of the Rotary Club, and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and golfing.Spencer was a member of First Baptist Church of Blakely.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Gail Swasey Mueller; sons, Clint Mueller (Karen) and their children, Andrew, Mason, Kristen & Lily, of Woodstock, GA, and Jeff Mueller (Melinda) and their children, Abigail & Elizabeth, of Brookhaven, GA.
