Sibyl Marion Chandler Bostwick passed away January 14, 2019, at the Early Memorial Nursing Home, Blakely, GA.Mrs. Bostwick was born on September 14, 1921, to the late Charles Stuart and Alberta Brightwell Chandler.She graduated from Blakely Union High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Georgia College for Women in Milledgeville, GA.She was married to William Leon Bostwick for 51 years until his death on May 24, 1996.
Mrs. Bostwick was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and served in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, member of the Women's Missionary Union, and pianist for the church choir.She was known for her wit, compassion and encouraging words.She loved and served her God, her family and others.She retired from the Orange County School System, Orlando, FL after 30 years of teaching.
She is survived by three sons:Chan Bostwick (Isamu), North Hollywood, CA, Dale Bostwick (Sandra), Valdosta, GA, and Greg Bostwick (Michele), Tallahassee, FL; three grandchildren:Sarah Bostwick Knapp (Patrick), Kimberly Bostwick Aers (Mick), and Ken Lawlor (Rachel); Five great-grandchildren:Mia DeWolf, Aiden Knapp, Catie Grace Knapp, Brandon Knapp, and Kinsley Lawlor.The family expresses enormous appreciation to her caregivers Winona Love, Kaye Slay and Jackie Williams.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church sanctuary.A celebration of Life service will follow at 11 a.m. with Dr. Michael Warren officiating.Interment will be held at the Blakely Cemetery.Pallbearers are Paul Bostwick, Ray Bostwick, Paul Chandler, Tim Chandler, Billy Fleming and Buck Holley.
