Shirley Mclemore White

Shirley McLemore White, 86, of 424 Southside Drive, Blakely GA, passed away early Sunday morning, September 30, 2018, after an extended stay in Flowers Hospital, Dothan, AL. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 2 PM at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Yancey Hartman officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Friendship Memorial Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. The family will receive friends for a visitation in the sanctuary of Southside Baptist from 1 PM until 1:45 PM. The active pallbearers will be A. J. Griffin II, Alex Griffin, Ron Reed, Bruce McConnell, Charlie Brake II and Roy Moulton Jr.

Mrs. White was born on September 12, 1932 in Phenix City Al.to the late Billy Duncan McLemore and Alma Adams McLemore. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a retired school teacher, having taught many years at the Early County Elementary School. She had received her BA degree in Education from Troy State University in 1982. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Alexander White and two sisters: Esther Brake and Billie Joy Temples.

Her survivors include two daughters, Alexia W. Griffin and Jerry of Dothan, AL and Vivian W. Reed and Ron of Decatur, GA. She has a brother, Larry McLemore and Jan of Carrollton, GA; 5 grandchildren: A. J. Griffin II and Morgan of Hinesville, GA, Alex Griffin of Dothan, AL, Harper Reed of Decatur, GA, Rachel Reed of Milledgeville, GA, Erin Reed of Kennesaw, GA and 2 great grandchildren, C. J. Griffin and Rowan Griffin, both of Hinesville, GA.
