Shirley Jean Higginbothem

Shirley Jean Higginbothem, 67, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held Friday evening, Dec. 1, 2017 at 6 PM in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends for a visitation starting at 5 PM.

Shirley was born on July 24, 1950 in Hosford, FL and moved to Early County in 1958. She is now reunited with her mother, Helen Askew, and her two brothers: Wayne Elkins and Steven Elkins.

Her survivors include her husband of 49 years, Gary "Lucky" Higginbothem, Sr. of Blakely, GA, 2 daughters: Nina Richardson of Blakely, GA and Sylvia Howell of Leesburg, GA, 2 sons: Gary Higginbothem, Jr. and Diane of Middletown, MD and Michael Higginbothem and Amanda of Leesburg, GA, a sister: Gloria Shiver and Buddy of Uvalda, GA and a brother: David Elkins of Colquitt, GA. She was also the beloved Mema to 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Shirley was a kind and giving person who loved spending time with family and friends.She will be missed but will forever be in the hearts of all who knew her.
