Senior Judge Everett Tracy Moulton Jr.

September 18, 1935 — May 16, 2023

After 87 memorable years, Senior Judge Everett Tracy Moulton, Jr. passed at his home of over 51 years on May 16, 2023 with his beloved wife Marty Moulton by his side. Senior Judge Everett Tracy Moulton, Jr. was born September 18, 1935 to Everett Tracy Moulton, Sr. and Mary Bray Moulton in Columbus, GA, Tracy grew up in Cuthbert, GA where he was the Most Valuable Player for the Cuthbert High School football team and graduated in 1953. He attended Oxford College of Emory University and graduated from Emory University where he was also a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson Law School and began a private law practice in 1961 in Blakely, GA. He was City Attorney for Blakely and State Court Judge and practiced law privately until July 28, 1995 when he was sworn in by Governor Zell Miller as Superior Court Judge of the Pataula Circuit of Georgia where he remained on the bench for 30 years eventually serving the whole state as Senior Judge of Superior Courts until 2020. In 1990, he married his love Marty and they built a life together spanning over 32 years. He was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church in Blakely, GA. Never one to slow down, Tracy loved to hunt, fish, garden, and read. The family is fairly certain he had read every book there was to read at the time of his passing. He was an interesting, strong, smart, determined man who even hitchhiked to college because it was simply necessary. He enjoyed his friends and was a loyal friend. People simply felt better after talking to him. He put others first. In his professional life, he took on the hard cases because he loved the law and the challenges it presented. He studied and read voraciously in preparation for every case whether he was the attorney or the judge. He also loved his family and never failed to put them first. He loved those who passed before him-his mother and father (Everett and Mary Moulton), his brothers Richard Moulton and Larry Moulton, and his son Little Tracy (Everett Tracy Moulton, III) with whom we know he is talking to right now. Left to miss him and honor him are his dear wife Marty Moulton, children Joe Moulton, Chris Moulton, Tammy Williams (Stan), Brooke Loyed (Jim), Betsy Howard (Gabriel), Cindy Conner (Greg) and grandchildren Charles Jason Moulton, Jacob Wolfe (Jazlyn), Monica Wolfe Bullock (Zach), Canton, Mitchell, and Sophie Conner, Hamilton and Grant Howard, Tarver Ray and Tracy Elizabeth Loyed and great grandchildren Samantha and Mary Charles Moulton. The family will gather on Saturday, May 20 th for a private graveside service to celebrate his life. The First United Methodist Church of Blakely will provide lunch for the family. The family would like to express their appreciation for the kind messages and prayers. They are comforted by the fact that Tracy is in heaven with his Lord and Savior. Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
