Gregory Scott Houston, Sr., 65, of Hoover, AL passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, September 24, 2020, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.
Scott was born on November 03, 1954 in Blakely, GA to the late John Chester and Thelma Evans Houston.He was a graduate of Southwest Georgia Academy and continued his education at Troy University where he played on the Trojan basketball team.Scott retired from the automotive finance industry following a lengthy career that took him to numerous cities throughout the Southeast.He was an active member of the Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, and an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.His quick wit and humor endeared him to so many!Scott had a servant's heart and sought to live his life daily for Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan Jackson Houston; his son, Greg Houston, Jr. and Stephanie of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Tripp and Merritt; his brother, Craig Houston and Julie of Columbia, SC; his brother-in-law, Matt Jackson of Albany, GA; his nephew, Mark Houston and Ashley of Chapin, SC; and his niece, Lauren Houston Wilson and Add of Beaufort, SC; and many extended family members and friends.
Due to the current pandemic, there will be a small private service with only immediate family. The family is so thankful for the many relatives and friends that touched Scott's life and is saddened that we will not be able to gather together to celebrate Scott. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Blakely, P.O. Box 667, Blakely, GA39823.
