Sarah Earline Easom

September 12, 1946 — November 23, 2023

Sarah Earline Chandler Easom, 77, of Blakely, Ga., passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Southeast Health in Dothan, Ala. surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Blakely on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Lyle Brackin officiating. Interment will be at Blakely Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends and family on November 25, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Earline was born on September 12, 1946, in Early County, Ga., and was the only child of the late Earl Williford Chandler and Annette Kenney Chandler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Macy Michelle Easom, and her in-laws, Edd and Mary Doris Houston Easom. Earline graduated from Blakely High School and worked at Brew Schneider Co. However, she was well known in Blakely and the surrounding schools and communities as the secretary at Early County High School. Throughout her 35 years at ECHS, she gave endless hours of her time to assisting students and staff, as well as the extracurricular activities of the school. She made sure to keep up with all the details, and everyone knew “Mrs. Easom” had whatever information they needed. She and Edd served the athletic program many years. Whether it was running concession stands, handling reserved seats, keeping the basketball stat books or planning for playoff buses, she was there. She loved nothing more than loading sandwiches and fried chicken on charter buses headed to the game. She took great pride in the Bobcats and loved everything about being a part of ECHS. Although kids of all ages knew her from their days at ECHS, she may have been better known for her southern cooking. Whether it was cooking for her friends and family or co-workers at school, she delighted in the fact that everyone loved her cooking. Several years before retirement, she and family friends opened Magnolias on Main, where she enjoyed serving families of the community on Sundays. They retired from Magnolias but Earline’s love of cooking for others never retired. She loved to see people enjoy a meal at her table. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a great wife, mother and Mamalene. She wore the title of Mamalene proudly, whether it was her own grandchildren or any others that she “helped raise.” Earline was a master at spoiling her family, but most of all, she was always involved in their lives and at every dance recital, ballgame or event that they were involved in. She loved the people in her community and showed it best when they were in need. The relationships with her friends was something she always held dear to her heart. Earline is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edd Easom, Jr., a daughter, Lisa Easom Howard (Marty) of Dothan, Ala., and a son, Jeff Easom (Angel) of Warner Robins, Ga.; six grandchildren: Caitlin Cooper Williams (Russ), Landon Easom (Sidney), Megan Easom, Lindsey Easom, Mason Easom & Michael Easom; -and two great-grandchildren: Cooper Williams and Anna Gibbs Williams; and a special friend and caregiver, Patricia Smith. Serving as pallbearers for the service are Jeff Easom, Landon Easom, Mason Easom, Michael Easom, Russ Williams and Marty Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Harper, Randy Adams, Benny Chandler, Garrett Bennett, Stan Smith, Michael Allred, Sterling Jones, Vic Knight, Kenneth Knight, Kevin Knight, Kerry Morris, Trey Woolf, Dwight Evans, and Ric Hall. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church at 790 S. Church St., Blakely, Ga., 39823 or the Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation at P.O. Box 303, Centerville, Ga., 31028. Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
