Robert Frank Daley, Sr. of Blakely, Georgia and Hilton Head, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 12, 2022. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Blakely, GA with Father Mike Kerin officiating. Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery. with Guy Hurst, John Hurst, Scott Starr, Dan Wasdin, Joe King and Bo King servings as pallbearerw. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 am. Bob was a devoted husband to Guyla White Hurst Daley. The two were married for twenty-six amazing years. After twenty wonderful years in Hilton Head, Bob and Guyla built their dream home and retired to Guyla’s family property in Blakely. Bob was the loving father to sons Robert, Jr. (Bob)(and wife Jana) of Columbia, South Carolina, Edward, of Hilton Head and Blakely and Michael (and wife June) of Cincinnati. He was also dedicated step-father to John Hurst, of Hilton Head, SC, Paula Whitaker, of Kaysville, Utah, and Guy Hurst of Sandy, Utah. Bob was also the fun-loving “Grandpa Bob” to Cara, Anna Katherine, Dima, Elizabeth, Brendan, Nora, Justin, Marissa, Ben, Jenna, and Jenny. Born on December 24, 1941, in Middletown, Connecticut, Bob was the youngest son of the late Edward Daley, Sr. and Claire Walsh Daley. In 1959, he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, in Middletown. After high school, Bob attended both the University of Florida and Miami University, receiving a B.S. in Accounting. He went on to serve in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. After working in both the accounting and the pharmaceutical industries, Bob developed into an entrepreneur and ran several restaurants in Lexington, Kentucky before moving to Hilton Head where he met his wife, Guyla. In Hilton Head, Bob found his heart’s favorite job, as a shuttle driver, where he met the world through the lives of his passengers. Active in the local Catholic parish no matter where he lived, Bob was a lector who faithfully read the Scripture during the Mass. An avid Boston Red Sox, Bob loved nothing more than to travel to Florida with his son Ed for the Red Sox spring training. He also loved running, reading, and walking his various dogs, Max, Fred, and Buster. Though he loved many things, perhaps most of all, Bob loved people. He never met a stranger and leaves behind a legacy of friends all along the East Coast.
