Robert "Bobby" Robinson Mclendon Iii

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bobby” Robinson McLendon III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on Tuesday, February 20th, 1940, in Dothan, Alabama, Bobby was a cherished resident of Blakely, Georgia, where he spent the majority of his life. Bobby was a proud alumnus of the University of Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He was the owner/manager of Chattahoochee Tractor Sales, Inc., where he was known for his integrity and dedication. Bobby also operated RR McLendon Farms. His commitment to service extended beyond his career, as he honorably served in the Alabama Army National Guard for six years. A man of deep faith, Bobby was a devoted member and past Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Blakely. His commitment to his community was further exemplified by his active participation in the Blakely Rotary Club, where he was a past president and recently honored for 60 years of service. Bobby was also past president of the Chamber of Commerce. He formed lasting friendships and contributed to numerous community projects. Bobby was an avid quail hunter and enjoyed training and showing Paso Fino horses. He took seriously his responsibility to protect the environment. Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Jane Higdon McLendon, and their children, Robert Robinson McLendon IV (Gracie) of Bainbridge, GA, and Stella McLendon Smith (Andy) of Blakely, GA. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Collier McLendon, Lillie McLendon, Annie Willis, Ian McLendon, Andrew Smith, and Jane Anne Smith. He also leaves behind his English Cocker, Jack, affectionately known as his "Favorite Child." Bobby was happiest when his children and grandchildren were with him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Robinson McLendon Jr. and Amanda Barksdale McLendon, whose memories he held dear throughout his life. A visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024, at 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Chris Guffey. The Deacons of First Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers, with the members of the Blakely Rotary Club serving as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Gideons International, reflecting Bobby’s lifelong commitment to his faith and community. Bobby’s legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and community.
