Mr. Black was born March 9, 1935, in Blakely, Ga., to the late F. M. Black. and Beulah Vashti Smith Black. He was a member of Leary Baptist Church. He was self-employed in the timber business.
Survivors include his two daughters; Terri and husband John Cook, La Grange, Ga., Laci and husband Richard Haynes, Columbus, Ga., four grandchildren; Courtney Arenas and husband Daniel, Ethan Allred, Elizabeth Allred and Karson Allred;one sister, Shirley Sanders of Leary, Ga. and one brother, Charles and wife Ester Black, Albany, Ga.
Visitation will be, Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Leary Baptist Church, 4530 North Depot St., Leary, Ga. 39862, and the Funeral Service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Craig Layten officiating.Burial will be in the Leary Cemetery, Leary, Ga.Serving as active pallbearers will be Daniel Arenas,John Cook, Ethan Allred, Karson Allred, Rob Morgan and Ray Griffin.Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Church; Bobby Jackson, Marty Butler, Kevin Conley and David Craft.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leary Baptist Church, address listed above.
Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
