Richard Eugene Massie, 86, passed away at Gainesville Health and Rehab in Gainesville, VA on Friday, March 10, 2017. There will be a graveside service at Crossroads Cemetery in Damascus, GA on Wednesday morning, March 15, 2017 at 11 AM. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 8 PM at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely, Ga.

Mr. Massie was born on July 11, 1930 in Booneville, Indianato the late James C. Massie and Beulah Hart Massie.He was a retired Electronics Field Engineer for IBM. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving from 1948 until 1953. Other than his parents, Mr. Massie is preceded in death by his wife: Minla Lanier Massie and a daughter: Susan Diane Massie.

Mr. Massie is survived by a daughter: Linda Sharon Cortes and husband Jose of Maryville, TN and a son: Richard A. Massie and wife Zanka of Bristow, VA. There are 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
