Rebecca Gentry

Rebecca Gentry, 83, of Blakely, GA passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at UAB Birmingham, AL surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be held on Monday at Pine Lawn Cemetery at 1 PM. with Richard Coates speaking and James Alderman providing Mrs. Gentry’s favorite songs. Rebecca was born October 25, 1940 in Gadsden, Alabama to Robert Sydney Howard and Charlotte Rebecca Bowden Howard. She was married to the late Buddy Gentry for 64 years. Rebecca was an Insurance Billing Specialist and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by a son, Tony Gentry (Pam) of Blakely, and 4 daughters, Pam Murphy of Sharpsburg, Ga., Cindy Holland (Bill) of Dothan, Al., Lisa Burgamy (David) of Columbus, Ga., and Jill Medley of Hodgesville, Al., and sisters Patricia Thomas and Lil Eubanks. She is also survived by grandchildren, Samuel Murphy, Elizabeth Cobb (Justin), Caleb Holland, Hannah Tharp (Levi), Matthew Burgamy, Rebecca Burgamy, Jason Gentry (Melody), Andrea Jernigan (BJ), Dylan Medley, and Hunter Medley, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Missions Ministry at 29 Blakely Hwy, Blakely, Ga. Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
