Preston Holt, Jr.

Preston Holt Jr., a beloved resident of Blakely and Donalsonville, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on Tuesday, December 27th, 1932, in Clarksville, Florida, Preston lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to his family and community.

Preston was a devoted husband to the late Alice Hazel Holt and a cherished father to his sons, Kenneth Wayne Holt (Sheila) of Jakin, GA, and Terry Preston Holt (Carol) of Cairo, GA. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ken Holt (Pam) of Ashford, AL, Tony Holt (Carol) of Blakely, GA, Shane Holt of Blakely, GA, Tyler Preston Holt of Tallahassee, FL, and April Lynn (Tommy) of Donalsonville, GA. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Gavin Holt, Austin Holt, Kyle Everson, Tucker Lynn, Mylana Lynn, Anna Cauley, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Preston is survived by his sister-in-law, Edna Weeks, and was a very special and devoted uncle to Will Nichols and a very dear and loving uncle to Lynette Holt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Achilles Preston Holt Sr. and Sudie Holt, his beloved wife, Alice Hazel Holt, five sisters—Edna, Onita, Evelyn, Doris Jean, and Betty Sue—and two brothers, Ralph and Raymond.

Preston dedicated many years of his life working at Georgia Pacific, from which he retired. His work ethic and commitment were admired by all who knew him. He was a faithful member of First Assembly of God Church of Blakely, where he formerly served as Deacon, Secretary, Treasurer, and other positions as the need arose.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Preston's life will be held at Blakely First Assembly of God Church on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, at 2:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Jerry Murkerson and Dr. Alex Howell.

Pallbearers for the service will be Ken Holt, Tony Holt, Shane Holt, Gavin Holt, Austin Holt, Kyle Everson, Tucker Lynn, and Will Nichols.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Preston, lovingly known as "Bulldog" by his dear friends, will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his kindness, and his gentle spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
