Othar Romeo Adkison, 81, of 129 Westview Drive, Blakely, GA 39823 passed away Thursday afternoon, September 19, 2019 at the Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, AL.His funeral will be Monday, September 23, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Blakely First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jerry Murkerson, Dr. Alex Howell and Rev. Charles Reese officiating.Visitation will be held Sunday evening, September 22, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home.Active pallbearers will be Aaron Reichard, Danny Durham, Craig Gordon, Frankie Chambliss, Jr., Brandon Pierson and Billy Spence.
Mr. Adkison was born July 2, 1938 in Enterprise, AL to the late Harley Lee and Agnes Adkison.He was a retired butcher/meat cutter and owner/operator of the Blakely Freezer Locker.He was well known through the community for his BBQ, brunswick stew, smoked sausage and cooking for community fundraisers.Othar was a member of the Blakely First Assembly of God Church.Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Virginia Merritt, Martha Smith and Janice Alford.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Wall Adkison of Blakely; his son, Keith Adkison and Rita of Martinez, GA, and his daughter, Sheila A. Sumner and Chris of Blakely.He has two brothers; Charles Adkison of Blakely and Don Adkison and Dianne of Elba, AL.There are five grandchildren; Rebecca Pierson and Brandon of Waynesboro, GA, Melissa Adkison of Martinez, GA, Christopher Sumner and Caitlin of Baton Rouge, LA, Catherine S. Sirmans and Kyle of Ray City, GA, and Chandler Sumner and Brenna of Hammond, LA.He also has two great-grandchildren; Addison and Ava Pierson of Waynesboro, GA.He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
