Nettie Glass Varnum

Nettie Glass Varnum, 93, of 11740 Columbia Street, Blakely, GA passed away on October 17, 2018 at Life Brite Hospital, Blakely, GA. Her funeral will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Sterling Jones officiating.Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery with Gabriel "Gabe" Varnum, Kyle Dupree, Delano Evans, Freddie Varnum, Danny Love, Sr., Chris Furrey and James Geathers serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1 p.m until funeral time.
Mrs. Varnum was born July 22, 1925 in Cottonwood, AL to the late Jim Tom Glass and Mary Nowells Glass.She was a retired seamstress for Robere Manufacturing Company.She was of the Pentecostal faith.Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemmie D. "Doc" Varnum, two sons; Walter Varnum and Dexter I. Varnum and one great-granddaughter, Magen Elaine Hughes, two sisters; Niza Ellis, Mary Lee Evans and a brother, Willie Jim Glass and also, by a son-in-law, Clarence "Brother" Cook.
She is survived by one son, Earl Varnum and his wife Kathy of Galliano, Louisiana and by two daughters; Martha Cook of Arlington, GA and Cynthia Dupree of Blakely, GA, seven grandchildren; Brandie Varnum, Renee' and Chris Furrey, Sheri Smith, Jenny Richeaux, Kyle Dupree, Gabriel"Gabe" Varnum and Jay Varnum.She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
