Buddy Jordan, 87, of 153 Cannon Rd., Blakely, GA, died early this morning, May 25, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 1 PM, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Dobson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Lawn Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at New Hope on Saturday from 12 to 1. Active pallbearers will be Ray Jordan, Glenn Jordan, Al Jordan, Bert Wesley, Tim Jones, and Stacey Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be Emmett Mock, Tyner Cooper, Kenneth Pope, Sterling Davis, Mike Widener, and Sterling P. Jones.
Mr. Jordan was born on February 26, 1929, in Blakely,GA, to the late Fred Barnes Jordan and Mary Swords Jordan. He was a retired Independent Life Insurance Agent and after his insurance career, he worked part-time for Harvey's Supermarket and Camp E-Ta-Nake. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Other than his parents ,he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jean Cannon Jordan, and a sister, Barbara Lurlene Jordan.
His survivors include 2 daughters: Peggy Jeanine Jordan Bernstein of Blakely, GA, Penny Lorilei Jordan Riddley of St. Marys, GA, and a son, David Cannon Jordan (Dena) of Gainesville, GA. He also is survived by a brother: Fred Maxwell "Max" Jordan ( Becky) of Decatur, AL, a sister: Nadine Jordan Wesley of Snellville, GA; a brother-in-law: David Cannon of Colquitt, GA; 4 Grandchildren: Trey Riddley (Amy) of Kingsland, GA, Brittney Riddley Jones (Tim) of St. Marys, GA, Jessica and Rachel Jordan of Lilburn, GA. There are 7 Great Grandchildren: Ashley and Drew Riddley, Kingsley and Kylar Jones, Rachel Smith, Larry and Timmy Phipps, and 3 Nephews: Glenn Jordan (Suzy) of Cartersville, GA, Al Jordan of Decatur, AL, and Bert Wesley (Kathy) of Dacula, GA.
