Melba Chapman Grimsley

Melba Joan Chapman "Sissy" Grimsley, 84, of 402 Cable St., Headland, AL passed away at her residence Saturday evening, March 9, 2019. Her funeral will be held Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11 AM EDT at the graveside in the Blakely Cemetery with Rev. Norman Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation starting at 10 AM EDT at Manry- Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, 21802 Lucile Rd., Blakely, GA 39823.

Mrs. Grimsley was born on October 27, 1934 in Blakely, GA to the late Joe Hobson Chapman and Mellie Sue Gill Chapman. She was a member of the Westview United Methodist Church in Blakely and was a homemaker. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Daphene Chapman,Helen Smith, Earlene Stagg, Sandra Lawson and by 2 brothers: Bobby and Buddy Chapman.

Her survivors include her husband of 65 years, Joseph Edward "Chuck" Grimsley, a daughter: Linda "Dru" Jones and Dewey and a son: Joseph Edward " Bo" Grimsley and Ginger, all of Headland, AL. She has 3 Grandchildren: Kerri Blankenship and Steven of Headland, Keysha Allsup and Kenny of Dothan and Allen Grimsley and Brittany of Headland, and 4 great grandchildren: Chase and Ava Allsup of Dothan and Kellan and Aston Grimsley of Headland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be sent to either Covenant Hospice Care, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303 or to the Westview United Methodist Church, 82 Westview Drive, Blakely, GA 39823
