The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, in the chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Rev Sterling Jones officiating.The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00, prior to the service. Matt Chase, Justin Hunt, Davis Williamson, A.J. McCarley, Joey Brackin, and Chris Roland will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Blakely Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to an educational trust that will be established at First State Bank of Blakely for Matthew's children.
Matthew was born on March 9, 1986 to his loving parents, Terry and Ginger Johnston Hunt of Damascus.He was a 2004 honor graduate of Miller County High School where his quick wit and mischievous smile will always be remembered by his classmates and teachers.Receiving the computer honors award his senior year, Matthew had a knack for technology and was always willing to help his friends and family with any technical difficulties.He attended Valdosta State and remained in Valdosta where he worked as a chef, married and started a family before returning this previous year.Matthew also enjoyed creating art, a talent he inherited from his mother.He was a loving father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Charlton "T.C." Hunt, Jr., and his maternal grandparents, Johnny and Myrtice Johnston.
Survivors include his wife, Stacy Owens Hunt and their two children, Brandon and Hailee Hunt; his parents; a brother, Cole Johnston Hunt (Priscilla Thomas) of Valdosta; his grandmother, Roberta Killebrew Hunt of Damascus, and numerous aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends.
