Mary Ophelia Hall Sheffield, 91, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 25, 2018 at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dothan, AL. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 2 PM EDT at First Baptist Church in Blakely, GA, with the family receiving friends for visitation starting at 1 PM in the church sanctuary. Rev. Keith Alderman will be officiating and the burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery.Active pallbearers will be Travis Sheffield, Dustin Woodham, Hunter Randa, Mike Hall, David Benchabbat and Michael McNeal.Honorary pallbearers will members of the DD Club.

Mrs. Sheffield was born on July 28, 1926 in Savannah, Ga to the late James Weaver Hall and Eliza Harper Hall. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blakely, GA and had retired as a secretary for the Early County Elementary School. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe M. Sheffield, Sr.:2 sisters; Vivian Dixon and Helen Carter and 3 brothers; Norman, Earl and Merle Hall.

Her survivors include 2 sons: Joe Milton Sheffield , Jr and wife Lou Ann of Knoxville, TN and Dr. David Samuel Sheffield and wife Cindy of Dothan, AL. There are 4 grandchildren; Christie Benchabbat(David) of Knoxville, TN, Travis Sheffield of North Auburn, CA, Jennifer Randa (Hunter) of Birmingham, AL and Amanda Woodham (Dustin) of Dothan, AL and 4 great grandchildren: Kirra and Libby Benchabbat, Hayes Randa and Lawsen Woodham.
