Mary Odum, 85, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at her residence with her family at her side.A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the Blakely Cemetery with Bill and Daniel Odum officiating and Bill, Tommy, Steve, Randy, Trey, Daniel and Joshua Odum serving as pallbearers. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines. A private family visitaion will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m.
Mary was born March 9, 1936 in Blakely, GA to the late Frank Bryant Stokes and Jeanie Sirmons Stokes.Miss Mary, as she was affectionately known, was the faithful wife of Pete Odum for 67 years. Miss Mary was known in the community for her pound cakes and chicken and dumplings. She was also the loving and caring mother of four children; all boys.Miss Mary never met a stranger, and was a friend to everyone she knew. Miss Mary also enjoyed trying out new recipes and desserts on her family, which were always well received.Other than her parents she was preceded in death by one brother and 5 sisters.
She is survived by her husband, William "Pete" Odum, sons; Bill (Theresa) Odum, Tommy (Leslie) Odum, Steve (Shae) Odum, Randy (Mandy) Odum, Grandchildren; Trey, Marybeth, Daniel, Joshua, Jessica, Stephanie Odum and one sister, Frances Smith.
