Mary Kate Moseley McLendon, 91, of Blakely, passed away June 15, 2019 at her residence. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Blakely on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.with Rev. Keith Alderman officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until time for funeral.Burial will be in the Blakely Cemetery with Charles Hobbs, Jerry Harrell, James Moseley, Jeff Moseley, Tre McLendon, John Moseley, Tye Whatley and Tuck Wieler serving as pallbearers.
Ms. Kate was born January 7, 1928, to the late Mr. and Mrs. W.L Moseley, Senior. She graduated from Blakely Union High School and began a long and dedicated career in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court, retiring in 1992. She was considered one of the fastest typists in Early County and her distinct penmanship of perfection is still recognized by all who access handwritten records. She began her years of service in the clerk's office when she was 18 years old, and it was there that she met her husband, Hoyle McLendon, Sr., whom she married on November 28, 1946.She was a loving, dedicated, and devoted sister, wife, mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother.She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Hoyle McLendon, Sr. and siblings Hubert Moseley, Sr., William Moseley, Ben Moseley, John Moseley, and Norma Moseley. She is survived by her three children: Charlotte Atkins (David) of Little Rock, AR; Hoyle McLendon, Jr. (Deborah) of Blakely; and Warren McLendon (Cinda) of Ozark, AL.She was known as Granny to her grandchildren:Sandee Foster (Scott), Melissa Atkins of Little Rock, AR; Kristen Wieler (Tuck) of Winder, GA; Tre McLendon, of Blakely; Alexandria Phillips (Josh) of Statham, GA; Wyndi Strength of Dothan, Al; Whitney Hines (Steven) of Ozark, Al.She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren: David Carr; Caroline, Logan, and Oliver Wieler; Tucker, Hannah, and Addison McLendon; Avery and Annaleigh Phillips; Tye and Madi Whatley; Grace, Morgan, and Taylor Hines; Mary Kate was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of the Eastern Star.She served as pianist for Pineview Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church in Blakely.
