Mary Hazel Chandler Brown passed away Friday evening, September 23, 2016, at the Early Memorial Nursing Home, Blakely, Georgia.
Mrs. Brown was born on December 29, 1925 to the late Charles Stuart and Alberta Brightwell Chandler.She graduated Blakely Union High School and attended Valdosta State College in Valdosta.On July 28, 1944 she married Harvey Olden Brown and they were married 62 years until his death in 2006.She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Blakely and served in many capacities to include Woman's Missionary Union (WMU), Girls Auxiliary Missions, Sunday School Teacher and church choir.She was a member of Daughters of American Revolution (DAR).Mrs. Brown was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.She was known for her wit, compassion and encouraging words.She loved and served her God, her family and others.She retired from the Early County School System after working for over 20 years at the Early County Middle School.
She is survived by four daughters:Carol Brown Pryor, Charlotte, NC; Judy Brown Fleming (Billy), Blakely, GA; Mary Brown Naramore (Tom), Saint Augustine, FL; Madelyn Brown Reed (Nick), Saint Augustine, FL; one sister:Sibyl Marion Chandler Bostwick, Blakely, GA; ten grandchildren:Jamie Pryor Wimberly (Mark), Charlotte, NC; William Heath Fleming (Lenora), Tallahassee, FL; Christie Naramore Chandler (Neil), Ponte Vedra, FL; William Joseph Naramore (Carley) Jacksonville Beach, FL; Heather Fleming Kinzalow (Carl), Phenix City, AL; Jenifer Hayes Crane (Ricky), Keystone Heights, FL; Holden Brown Fleming, Blakely, GA; Ronald Todd Hayes, Daytona Beach, FL; Julie Pryor Ray (Chris), Denton, TX; Mary Virginia Pryor, Dunwoody, GA; and, eighteen great grandchildren:Jacob Christian Wimberly, Georgia Caroline Wimberly, Skylar Lenora Fleming, Lauren Elizabeth Dasher, Hayden Thomas Dasher, Avery Christine Annette Dasher, Jaxon Thomas Naramore, Collin Wayne Naramore, William Allen Kinzalow, Carla Denise Kinzalow, Tye Olden Stephenson, Sydney Nicole Stephenson, Jacob Harvey Fleming, Ronald Dylan Hayes, Presley Laken Hayes, Nathaniel Chandler Ray, Callie Noelle Ray and Josephine Marie Ray; and devoted caretakers, Winona Love and Kaye Slay.
A visitation for family and friends will be held, Monday, September 26, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the social hall of First Baptist Church in Blakely, Georgia.A Celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church sanctuary with the Reverends Keith Alderman and Joe Naramore officiating.Graveside services will be held at the Blakely Cemetery for immediate family members.Pall bearers will be Heath Fleming, Joe Naramore, Holden Fleming, Todd Hayes, Allen Kinzalow, Tye Stephenson, Jaxon Naramore, Hayen Dasher, and Collin Naramore.
