Martha Ann "Mot" Garrett Long was born on February 19, 1933, in Arlington, Georgia, to Otis and Marzene Garrett.
Martha Ann entered eternal life with the Lord on October 22, 2018, in the loving embrace of her husband and family.She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother to the family she left behind.Her funeral will be Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Arlington United Methodist Church, Arlington, Georgia.The family will receive friends at the church for visitation at 12 p.m. until time for the funeral service.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery with her sons serving as pallbearers and a grandson.
Mot studied home economics at the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia.At the age of 17 she became a Link flight simulator instructor who trained U. S. Air Force Aviation Cadets at Bainbridge Air Force Base, Georgia.
Her faith and her family were her greatest passions; she was a consummate homemaker who possessed incredible beauty and unshakable faith.
Her parents, brother Wilton Garrett and brother-in-law Billy Currie preceded Martha Ann in death.She is survived by her devoted husband Thomas Jerry Long; her sister Dorothy "Dot" Currie, her daughters Lynda (Robert) Martel, Cyndy Thomas, Natalie (Glenn) Shellhouse and sons Walter (Debbie) Nielsen, Scott Long, Jim (Brenda) Long, Allen (Tracy) Long, David (Kathy Jean) Long and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Salvation Army in memory of Martha Ann Long.
