Margie Lawrence Brown, formerly of Blakely, Georgia, passed away April 14, 2023, in Dublin, Georgia. Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2023, from 12:30 until 2 PM at Blakely First Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 2 PM with Dr. Alex Howell officiating. Interment will be in the Blakely Cemetery immediately following the service. Margie was born on June 13, 1930, in Baker County, Georgia to the late L. D. Lawrence and Janie Irene Craft Lawrence. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, John A. Brown, Sr., and her brothers; Joe W. Lawrence, Sr., and Bryson Lawrence. Margie is survived by her two sons, John A. Brown, Jr. (Jackie) of Hartwell, Ga., and Davey Brown (Kay) of Dublin, Ga., and her daughter, Dana Jane Brown Story (Earl) of Chattanooga, Tn. Grandchildren are Jason Brown (Missy), Julie Brown Weathers (Jonathan), Lance Brown (Allison), Dana Kay Brown Davis (Chris), Brittany Story Eldridge (Steve), and Jeremy Story (Bailey). She was "Margie", to her 10 great-grandchildren; Cade and Curran Brown; Mattie and Austin Weathers: Carter, Thompson, and Mason Brown; Bryce, Cameron, and Blakely Davis. She was a graduate of Blakely Union High School and Georgia State College for Women. She taught elementary school in Jakin and Blakely before retiring after 30 years. Known as a talented musician, she was the pianist/member of Jakin Free Will Baptist Church for 30 years before moving to Blakely, where she became a member of First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included attending her children's athletic events, Pilot Club activities, gardening, needlework and traveling. Her favorite activity of all was spending time with her beloved husband, "John Arthur", family, and friends (old and new). In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Georgia Baptist Children's Home, P. O. Box 329, Palmetto, GA. 30268-9904, or the charity of your choice.
