Lucus "Luke" Chance Johnston, 37 of 4412 Simmons Rd., Blakely, GA, died Sunday afternoon at his residence. His funeral will be held Friday morning, May 5, 2017 at 11 AM EDT in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Williams officiating and Eulogy by Ed Whitehurst.The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10 AM EDT. A private family burial will follow the funeral service at the Pine Lawn Gardens cemetery.Pallbearers will be Blake Powell, Daniel Roland, Stephen Jackson, David Powell, Wayne Powell and Tony Smith.
Luke was born on August 27, 1979 in Blakely, Georgia to his father, Raymond Edward Chance and his mother Beth Ann Powell. Beth and Luke's adopted father, Bobby Keith Johnston live in Echo, AL and Raymond E. Chance and his wife Stacy live in Albany, Ga. Luke was self-employedas a Ferrier, a member of the Zion Freewill Baptist church and a U. S. Marine peacetime veteran.
His survivors, other than both sets of parents, include his Maternal grandparents, William and Evelyn Powell of Blakely, GA, his Paternal Grandparents, Raymond and Shirley Chance of Albany, GA, 6 sisters; Julie Richey and Greg of Edison, GA,Whitney Tucker and Chris of Ozark, AL, Amanda Alley and Phillip of Leesburg, GA, Paige Chance of Albany, GA, Kelli Neal and Jamie of Flomaton, AL and Casey Jo Johnston of Murfreesboro, TN.He also has a brother; Eddie Chance and Marley of Okeechobee, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
