Mrs. Lois S. Cannon of Blakely, GA , died peacefully, in the early evening of Friday, May 1,
2020.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, John and Irene Strickland, her beloved sisters and
brother; Hilda Jones (Rome, GA), Sarah Brown (Blakely), Eleanor Pritchett (Blakely) and Bobby
Strickland (Blakely), one son, Dewey Cannon, (Blakely) and of course her devoted husband of
56 years, Joe A. Cannon.
She leaves behind two sons, James (Tammy) Cannon and Billy (Lori) Cannon; all of Blakely.
The lights of her life were her eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren who lovingly
referred to her as "Grandmama".
Lois loved her southern life. Cooking her family a "good old country dinner" was a true privilege
and making a churn of homemade ice-cream and pimento cheese sandwiches on a Sunday late
afternoon, was always her treat to start the week off right. Gathering her family was what Lois
enjoyed most and she made sure no one left her house hungry.
She and Joe enjoyed their time together after retirement, traveling, gardening and watching the
grandchildren grow up. She was fast to grab a plastic ball and bat and "play ball" in the
backyard with them.
Flowers in her yard, Wheel of Fortune and golf cart rides were all some of her favorites. The
Methodist Church Clothing Room, Divinity candy and her way with words cannot be left out
when remembering her.
But the love she devoted to her family and friends will be what we all remember most about this
Amazing Matriarch, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend,
Lois Cannon.
A private family graveside service will be held and later, a Celebration of Lois Cannon's life will
be announced.
