Linda Fay Gordon

November 4, 1947 — October 28, 2022

Linda Fay Gordon, 74, passed away Friday morning, October 28, 2022, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church of Blakely from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Providing the eulogy is Minister Rick Thomas assisted by Rev. Tucker Lewis. Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery. Linda will be laid to rest by her nephews, Todd Swords, Stacy Swords, Steven Swords, Mark Swords, and Darold Boyett and grandson, Seth Taylor. Linda was the last of six children born November 4, 1947 to James Luna and Mamie Frances Swords. She was a certified medical assistant and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blakely, Ga. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, son, Nathaniel D. Gordon, and grandson, Jesse Aaron Cleveland. Linda is survived by her husband Nathan Gordon, her children Dee Dee Widener (Jef), Debbie Taylor (Jimmy), daughter-in-law, Stefanie Gordon, her grandchildren, Cameron Widener, Macy Gordon, Bethany Gordon, and Seth Taylor (Christin), siblings, Herbert Swords (Gail), Peggy Simmons, Margie Murkerson (late Ludon), Wayne Swords (Bonnie), Tony Swords (Charlotte), in-laws, Buddy Gordon (Marilyn), Roy Gordon (Lois), Ray Gordon (Jane) and the late Aaron Gordon. Linda was known to be a very talented seamstress, videographer for her church, and cook for her family, friends, and neighbors. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, dancing, and scrapbooking. Her faith in God was strong and the love for her family was unwavering. Linda’s most favorite bible verse was Psalm 62: 1 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. This verse is most fitting as she was called home in the early hours of October 28, 2022 to be with our Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness. The Gordon family is most appreciative of all of the love and support of friends, family, church family, and health care providers during her illness and as she transitioned to her forever home. Linda was truly blessed to have so many that cared for her.
