Leslie Smith Nichols passed away at her residence, 181 Angus Drive, Blakely, GA, on Saturday morning, July 15, 2017.Her funeral will be a graveside service held Monday morning, July 17, 2017 at 10 AM in the Blakely Cemetery with her son-in-law Roscoe Nash officiating.
Mrs. Nichols was born on August 7, 1921 in Copperhill, TN to the late George Walter Smith and Sadie Arp Smith. She was a retired English teacher in both California and Georgia school systems. She graduated from Young Harris College and Fresno State College in Fresno, CA with her BA degree and she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Blakely, Ga.
Her survivors include 2 daughters: Charlotte Nash and Roscoe of Blakely, GA, Doreen N. Collett of Climax, Ga; a son: Robert W. Nichols of Chattanooga, TN; 2 Sisters: Regina S. Smith of Fayetteville, NC, Jeanette S. McClure of Ellijay, Ga, a sister-in-law Arlene Smith of Blue Ridge, GA, a brother-in-law James Kinser of Ellijay, GAand 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hobert Nichols; 2 sisters, Genova Kinser and Blanche Ganues and by 2 brothers; Garnet Smith and Bobby George Smith.
