Leonard O. "Lent" Houston, 97, of Blakely, GA, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA.A Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home with Dr. Alex Howell officiating.The family will receive friends for visitation starting at 10 a.m.
Mr. Houston was born at home, December 31, 1919, near Lucile, GA, to the late James Lafayett Houston and Zora Lee Scarborough Houston.He was of the Baptist faith.He was also a lifelong Mason and received a 75 year membership award at Magnolia Lodge #86 in Blakely in June 2016.During WWII he served in the US Army Counter-Intelligence Corps as a Special Agent assigned to the Nations Top-Secret "Manhattan Project".In 1956 he relocated his family to San Marino, CA to launch and operate an Aerospace/Defense Industry Business.He retired in 1991 and returned with his wife, Sylvia, to their beloved Blakely.
Mr. Houston was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Bell Houston; three brothers, Henry, Emory and Woodrow Houston and two sisters, Florrie Mae Alexander and Ruth Houston Jordan.
Survivors include; a son, Steve Houston and wife Marianne of San Clemente, CA, two daughters, Lynn Houston Denker of San Marino, CA, Harriet Houston Kuhlman and husband Tim of Dana Point, CA; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
