Leonard Harris, 70, passed away at Tranquility Hospice, Austell, GA on February 7, 2020.His funeral will be held in the Chapel of Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home on Monday, February 10, 2020, at 2 p.m.with Rev. Ernest Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the funeral starting at 1 p.m. until funeral time.Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery with members of his Class of 1967 serving as pallbearers; Cliff Bush, Richard Crowdis, Richard Shoemaker, Tommy Gilbert, Dwayne Gilbert, Andy Sanders, Gerald Howard, Garlin Evans, Paul Smith, Wayne Balkcom and Sam Clinkscales.
Leonard was born in Blakely, GA on February 10, 1949 to the late Walter Ray Harris and Eloise Rogers Harris.He was a member of the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, Mableton, GA and he was self-employed in the aviation business.He was president for many years of the Peachtree DeKalb Airport Association, a member of the Silver Wings Fraternity and the "Grumpy Pilots" lunch group.Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Harris.
His survivors include is wife, Amelia Barnes Harris of Mableton, GA, a daughter; Jennifer (Brett) Bales of Sarasota, FL, two brothers; Larry Harris (Mary) of Cuthbert, GA, Tim Harris (Brenda) of Blakely, GA, two grandchildren; Tommy Bales, Lorean Miyamoto (Charlie), a great-granddaughter, Eloise Bales and a great-grandson, Chance Miyamoto.
