Joseph Edward Grimsley

Joseph Edward "Chuck" Grimsley, Sr., of 402 Cable St., Headland, AL 36345, passed away at his residence Friday evening, March 22, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 12 PM in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely, Ga with Bro. Jerry Windsor officiating. The family will receive friends and family for visitation at 11 AM EDT until the funeral service at 12 PM. Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery, first with the Military Rites followed by the Masonic Rites. Pallbearers at the cemetery will be members of the Brown's Cross Road Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Grimsley was born in Bluffton, Ga on Sept. 5, 1928 to the late Joseph Franklin Grimsley and Gertrude Thompson Grimsley. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melba "Sissy" Chapman Grimsley and all of his siblings, which included 3 sisters: Frances G. Swords, Mildred G. Harper and Martha G. Spencer and 6 brothers: Bill, J. B., Emmett, J. T., James and Pat Grimsley. He was a member of the Westview United Methodist church of Blakely, GA, a retired U. S. Air Force Master Sergeant, having served in and during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was a Mason with the Brown's Crossroad Masonic Lodge # 529 in Henry County, Al. where he was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a Yorkrite Mason, and was a Shriner with the Alcazar Shrine of Montgomery, Al.

His survivors include a son, Joseph Edward "Bo" Grimsley and his wife Ginger and a daughter, Linda "Dru" Jones and her husband Dewey, all of Headland, AL. There are 3 grandchildren: Kerri Blankenship and her husband Steven and Allen Grimsley and his wife Brittany all of Headland, AL and Keysha Allsup and her husband Kenny of Dothan, AL and 4 great grandchildren: Chase and Ava Allsup of Dothan and Kellan and Aston Grimsley of Headland.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to either Westview United Methodist Church, 85 Willow Glen Dr., Blakely, GA 39823 or to Covenant Care Hospice, 1512 W. Main St., Dothan, AL 36301.
