Johnny J "Buddy" Cherry

Johnny James “Buddy” Cherry, 76, of Blakely passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday, December 29, 2024. Buddy was born March 1, 1948 in Early County to Johnny Bob Cherry and Verna Nolan. He was married to Annie Cherry, his beloved wife of 55 years. Buddy worked at Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill from 1970 up until its closing in 1994. He then worked with Southern Concrete until his retirement. Buddy was predeceased by his parents, sisters Katie Glass, Lillian Nolan, and Linda Padgett, and brother-in-law Willie Farris. He is survived by his wife, daughter Sheila Hawkins (Alan), granddaughter Dallas Kuhn, brother Robert Cherry (Peggy), sisters Dora Farris and Cathy Cherry, and numerous nieces and nephews. Per his request, there will be no service. Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
