Johnny Dixon, 72, of 28 Garden Drive, Blakely, GA died unexpectedly in the emergency room of the Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center in Cuthbert, GA, Monday afternoon October 2, 2017.His visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 and the funeral will be at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Blakely, GA with Rev. Keith Alderman officiating.Burial will follow at the Blakely Cemetery with Military Rites. Ralph Fudge, Harriss Brown, Sonny MeGahee, Ben Adkison, Jarrod Whitaker and Matt Smith serving as active pallbearers.Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Nix, Adam McFather, Steve Anderson, Ronnie Hand, Lee Hand, Paul Chandler, Steve Traugh, Jay Hawkins,
Tyler Hampton, Robert Murkerson, James and Joel Ebersole and Ray Perkins.
Johnny was born in Cairo, GA on December 15, 1944 to the late John Benjamin Franklin Dixon and Mary Causseaux Dixon.He was owner/operator of the Dixon Plumbing and Electric Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blakely,where he was a deacon, a Sunday School teacher for the Hazel Hudspeth Sunday School Class and he was also the church historian.He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and he received an AA degree from Southern Tech in Marietta, GA.Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa D. Adkison.
His survivors include his wife, Dianne Jarrett Dixon of Blakely, two daughters, Jennifer D. Griffin and husband Joey of Blakely, and Hayley D. Jarvis and husband Jimbo of Moultrie, GA.There are three sisters; Pat D. Calhoun of Dothan, AL, Marlies D. Brown of Blakely and Vickie D. Blanchard and husband Hugh of Wicksburg, AL.He also is survived by five grandchildren; Hannah Houston of Atlanta, GA, Alexa and Gunner Griffin both of Blakely, John Reid and Holland Jarvis both of Moultrie, GA.
