John E. “Traveling Man” Jackson, 77, of Blakely passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Al. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Blakely Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Klobe officiating. Mr. Jackson was born March 21, 1947 in Edison, Ga. to the late Cleveland Jackson and Johnnie Mae Hayes Jackson-Murkerson. He was a retired truckdriver and loved traveling and his family. He was a hard worker, always helping and caring for others. Other than his parents, Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Jackson, brothers, Melvin Jackson, Tim Jackson, and William Jackson, and a sister, Juanita Scott. He is survived by daughters, Tonya Lynn Adams of Dothan, Al., and Shanna Hulon (Chad) of Rehobeth, Al., a son, Michael Woodard (Kelley) of Lynn Haven, Fl., 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Wayne Jackson of Blakely, Ga., Clarence Jackson of Aurora, Co., sisters Vivian Hoskins of Brinson, Ga., Stella Strickland of Brinson, Ga., Madge Ward of Columbus, Ga., and Jean Gilbert (Tom) of Fayetteville, NC., and Kathy White Jackson, the mother of his children. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
