Joe Frank Story, 89, of Arlington, Ga passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Early Memorial Nursing home. Mr. Story was born on October 1, 1934 in Quincy, Fl. to the late Winston Alexander Story and Ruth Grady Story. He served in the United States Air Force as an electrician and helped run electrical wires for the Air Force Base in Panama City, FL at the age of 9 years old. His Father, Winston, was contracted to do the work but Sonny was his father’s smallest helper and could fit in the tiny spaces necessary to run the wiring. Sonny later retired from Turning Point Hospital in Moultrie, GA, again as an electrician. Survivors include a daughter, Julie Whatley (Robbie) of Leary, Ga., sons Marc Engram (Charolett) of Tifton, Ga., and Jon McCain (Sarah) of Fergus Falls, MN., niece Brittany Vickers (Kraig) of Leary, Ga., 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Helen Powell of Gainesville, FL and a host of nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, Mr. Story was predeceased by a brother, W.A. Story Jr, and 2 sisters, Martha Moore Agerton and Lizzie Lee Wells. No memorial service has been planned at this time. A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
