Joseph Emory Bush, 79, of Blakely passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, May 12, 2021, at his residence.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, at the First United Methodist Church of Blakely with Rev. Tucker Lewis and Rev. Dwight Bishop officiating.Grandsons Wade Bush, Michael Bush, McKade Bush, Tyler Free, Brock Moss, and Charlie Gancerez will serve as pallbearers.Fellow members of the Seekers Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.A private family graveside service will follow at Pine Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00, prior to the service.
Joe was born on May 31, 1941 in Donalsonville to the late Walter Blackshear Bush and Edith Elaine Hays Bush.Other than working at Georgia Pacific for a brief while and serving our country in the United States Air Force,Joe worked in agriculture equipment sales industry throughout his career.In addition to other suppliers, he spent the majority of his career at SunSouth where he worked for twenty-six years.Joe was a hard worker, a family man, and a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Blakely.Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Denise White, a great-granddaughter, Kylie Bush, and four siblings, Al Bush, Jimmy Bush, Sara Griffin, and Cindy Robinson.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Irene Cook Bush; two sons, Wynn Bush (Teresa) of Blakely and Steven Bush (Jennifer) of Dothan; seven grandchildren, Wade Bush (Martha) of Blakely and their sons Nicolas & J.W., Breanna Moss (Brock) of Laredo, TX and their daughter Emersyn, Michael Bush (Kirstin) of Dothan and their daughter Miley, Morgan Free (Tyler) of Douglasville, GA and their son Oliver, McKade Bush of Dothan, and Samantha & Ashton Simmons of Anniston, AL; his son-in-law, Gary Troy White of Blakely and his daughter Sloane Gancerez (Charlie) and their children Tanner, Addie, and Skylar; a sister, Peggy Higgins of Wilmington, NC and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
