Rev. Jimmy Lane Harris, 78, of 16047 GA Hwy 39, Blakely, Ga, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, Al. His funeral will be held at the New Salem Freewill Baptist Church, 75 New Salem Church Road, Colquitt, GA 39837 on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 4 p.m. with Rev. Mick Garner and Marty Henley officiating.There will be a private family only burial at the George Cemetery following the funeral. Active pallbearers will be Kenny Johnson, Tim Jones, Jackson and Riley Parker, Ken Roberts and Gary McLendon. Honorary pallbearers will be former or current employees of Georgia Pacific. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday afternoon, June 7, 2019 from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home.
Jimmy was born on January 28, 1941 in Blakely, GA to the late Harvey Harris and Doris Lane Harris.He retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill after 39 1/2 years as an electrician.He has been a minister for the past 20 years and has been pastor of the New Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Colquitt, GA for many years.He was a member of New Salem Freewill Baptist Church.
His survivors would include his wife, Dianne Riley Harris of Blakely, GA, four daughters; Terra Carter and Steve of Ellijay, GA, Tina Jorgensen and Mike of St. Augustine, FL, Tiffany Henderson and Jason of Blakely, GA, Jenny Parker and Mark of Americus, GA; three sisters, Loretta Massey and Ron of Morgan, GA, India Flood and Ron of Blakely, GA and Karen Hill and Wayne of Cordele, GA.There are also six grandchildren; Danielle Kesner and Mark, Ben Shafer all of St. Augustine, FL, Carmen Henderson and Caitlin Henderson both of Blakely, GA, Jackson Parker and Riley Parker both of Americus, GA.
