Dot Milner

Jessie Ruth Smith Milner, 96, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Miller County Hospital. Her funeral service will be Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Dickey Presbyterian Church in Edison, GA with Walter Smith officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. The burial will follow in the Dickey Presbyterian Church Cemetery with active pallbearers; Walt Pierce, Scott Milner, Scottie Milner, Danny Milner, Gary Milner, Shawn Weathersby and Drew Varnum. Miss "Dot" as she was known, was an active member of the Dickey Church until it closed. She ran Milner's Grocery for 42 years as owner and operator, until she retired in 1994. Cooking and raising flowers were her specialties and seeing about family members. She was preceded in death by her parents Alex Washington Smith and Mattie Eula Howard Smith and her husband of 44 years, Hershell Milner. Miss Dot is survived by her three children; Gervice Milner of Leary, Wayne Milner of Dickey, and Brenda and (Pete) Weathersby of Dickey. She has seven grandchildren; Danny Milner, Denise Varnum, Gary Milner, Scottie Milner, Shawn Weathersby, Amanda Milner, LaKota Milner, thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and her special neighbor friend Cathy Arnold.
