Jesse James was born on December 28, 2007 to his loving parents, D.J. and Brittany Ferguson Sampley.Headstrong since birth, he completed everything he set his mind to and always considered others before himself. From riding four-wheelers to fishing and hunting, Jesse was your typical dirt road country boy that also loved playing baseball, shooting pool, and his greatest passion, football. He was an Alabama Crimson Tide fanatic and although limited by his illness, he overcame and continued to play for the Early County Bobcats and Houston County Lion football teams.Jesse enjoyed attending services at Blakely First Assembly of God where he found his love for gospel music."God's got me"was a common phrase he used when dealing with life's obstacles and even though cancer took his life here on Earth, it never took his caring spirit, his smile, his determination, and his love for others.
In addition to being a beloved son, he was the protective brother of Payton & Tabitha; the sweet grandson of Phyllis Oliver of Blakely, Jan Strickland and Mike of Edison, GA, and Tommy Ferguson of Headland AL; and the caring friend to his numerous aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lucy and Eugene Wilkerson, Andy Oliver, and Donald Sampley; his great-grandparents, Vaudine Smith and Anna and Darrell Strickland; and a uncle, Greg Wilkerson.
