James Stanton Radney, 94 of Sun City Center, Fl passed away October 3, 2016 at Plaza West in Sun City Center, Fl. He was born in Columbia Alabama on July 12, 1922. He graduated Columbia high school in 1940. He served as U.S. Army Captain as an aviator and trainer during WWII and Korea. Upon completion of his engineering degree from Auburn University in 1947 he started working for Scott Paper Company in Chester PA. His career moved his family to New York, Massachusetts, Nova Scotia, Maine, North Carolina, and Alabama. He later worked for Rust Engineering and McMillan Bloedell and retired at 70. He rose through the ranks of the paper industry to Vice President and Chief Engineer.
After retiring he moved to Riverhills, Valrico FL. and then Freedom Plaza, Sun City Center FL. where he has resided for the past twelve years. He was married to his wife Ann Nelson Radney for 64 years until her death in 2010 at the age of 86.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra Radney Kane and husband Bill of Riverview FL; Two Sons, James Nelson Radney and wife Patty of Atlanta, and J. Greg Radney and wife Patty of Johns Creek, Ga; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 14,at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral home Blakely, Ga. from 6 PM to 8 PM and his graveside services will be held Saturday October 15 at 11 AM in the Blakely Cemetery.
