James was a native Battleground, WA and former resident of Blakely, GA before moving to McMinn County in 2018. He was the son of the late Ella Kopkie Canfield. He is also preceded by daughter Tina Kopkie Kelly. James worked as a police officer for the City of Blakely, GA for 23 years and the Early County, GA Sheriff’s Department. James is survived by his wife Sandra Love Kopkie of Athens; Son Tony Kopkie (Sherri) of Dothan, AL; Stepson Shane Morgan of Athens; Stepdaughter Denise McCrimmin (Jimmy) of Georgetown, GA; Grandchildren Blake Kopkie of Dothan, AL, Jesse Kopkie (Brandy) of Jacksonville, FL, Cody Kopkie of Dothan, AL, Zackary Hughes of Dothan, AL, Alex Trawick (Madeline Haskins) of Newman, GA, and Megan Lockhart (Sean) of Marietta, GA; Great Grandchildren Nathaniel, Hunter, Elliott, Ellamae Kopkie all of Jacksonville, FL, and Mabry Lockhart of Marietta, GA; Son-In-Law Paul Kelly of Pine Mountain, GA; Sister Merle (Bud) Canfield, Salem, OR; Brothers Troy Canfield, Bemidji, MN, Glenn Canfield, Baudette, MN, Rodney ‘Rod’ Canfield International Falls, MN, and Willie Canfield, Vader, WA; Several Nieces, and Nephews.
