James Edward Killebrew, 84, of Blakely passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday morning, August 25, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, in Centerville Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Lori Lewis officiating.The family will receive friends immediately following the service and would like to recognize W.L. Chapman, Mike Conaway, Antonio Grant, Dwan Pilcher, John Watson, and Felton Woodham as honorary pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Centerville United Methodist Church, c/o Jane Chandler, Treasurer, 5306 Three Notch Rd., Blakely, GA39823.
James was born in Bainbridge, GA on April 27, 1937 to the late Albert R. Killebrew and Wilma Owen Killebrew Smith.After serving our country in the United States Army, he attended Auburn University and received a civil engineering degree.A successful developer, James owned and operated Development and Engineering Associates, INC. of Dothan and completed countless projects throughout the Southeast.He also held a private pilot's license and enjoyed flying.James was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, James E. "Eddie" Killebrew, Jr. and Stephen "Todd" Killebrew, and his sister, Ann K. Turner.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-nine years, Janice Chapman Killebrew, and her son and daughter, Tommy Sasser and Angel Benton (Adam), both of Blakely, eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members, friends, and associates.
