James Carlton “Jim” Harrison Sr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26th, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on Thursday, January 27th, 1944, in Blakely, Georgia, Jim spent his final years in Gainesville, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Jim proudly served his country in the Army before embarking on a career as a Quality and Safety Superintendent in the construction industry. His dedication to his work and his unwavering commitment to safety and quality left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him. Jim is survived by his dear friend and the mother of his children, Gwen Potter of Gainesville, FL. He leaves behind his sons, Donald Harrison of Boulder, CO, and James Harrison Jr. of Gainesville, FL, as well as his daughter, Debra Martinez (Eric Infante) of Gainesville, FL. Jim was a proud grandfather to Ashley, Alex "AJ," Max, Mason, Cameron, Grace, and Olivia, and a great-grandfather to Cody. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Steve Harrison (Virginia) of Jackson, GA. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Rupert Carlton Harrison, his mother, Margaret Dorothy Harrison, and his sister, Phyllis Harrison Lichner. A graveside service to honor Jim's life will be held at Mars Hill Cemetery in Edison, GA, on Friday, October 4th, 2024, at 11:00 am. The service will be officiated by Rev. Brent Griffin. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation at Parkinson.org, in Jim's memory.
