J. W. Thomas

J. W. Thomas, 85, of Dothan, passed away peacefully on, Feb. 11, 2017. He was born March 10, 1931 in Early County, Ga to the late Beecham T. Thomas and Fanny Mae McFay Thomas.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 14, at 1 p.m. EST at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home, 21802 Lucile Road, Blakely, GA.Graveside services will be immediately following visitation in the Blakely Cemetery at 2 p.m. EST with Preston Hammon officiating. Pallbearers will be: Tom Medcalf, Alan Benefield, Jackie Battles, Preston Hammon and Dorman Simmons.

Mr. Thomas was a certified Journeyman Plumber and retired from his company of many years in Atlanta, GA.He moved to south Alabama in 1997 and became a farmer.He was of the Pentecostal faith. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Martha Toler Thomas and a sister, Alma Howard.

He is survived by his 5 daughters; Sandra Thomas of Dothan, AL, Toni Medcalf and Tom of Lynn Haven, FL, Gail Barnes and John of Huntsville, AL, Darlene Wood of Covington, GA and Tina Parker of Dothan, AL; 8 grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, a brother, Donald Thomas of Adamsville, TN, 3 sisters, Louise Turner of Clarksville, GA, Lucy Nell Weaver of Villa Rica, GA, Merle Woods and Willis of Bremen, Ga and many nieces and nephews.
