Hubert A. Strickland, 84, of Blakely, GA passed away at his home with his children at his bedside. The family will receive friends at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 4-6:00 PM. Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, GA will handle Graveside Services, 11:30 AM on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 with family receiving friends from 10-11:00 AM prior to procession to cemetery. Interment Services will be held in the Starr Family Cemetery, 4027 Beaver Dam Farm Rd, Canon, GA. 30520. Mr. Strickland was born in Franklin County, GA to the late Martin Luther Strickland and Polly Adams Strickland. He retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission and then Strickland Forestry Services, after completing his tour of duty serving in the United States Army Corps. He enjoyed the outdoors, his horses, and his wagons, he also enjoyed many years as a hunting guide, raising, and training some of the best bird dogs in the area, many may remember Hubert for his love of dancing and especially square dancing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blakely, Men's Group and The Lions Club. He is survived by his children, Daughter, Summer Strickland Gowen of Hoboken, GA and Son, Matthew Adam Strickland (Kim) of Brunswick, GA. Grandchildren, Sloan Harris (Austin), Logan Gowen, Seth Gowen, Kara Strickland, Jordan Strickland, and Shaun Munoz. Great Grandchildren, Holden Harris, Paisley Strickland, Stella Strickland, and Colton Strickland. Special Niece, Betsy Wagenknecht, Brother, William “Bill” Strickland (Mary Beth), the mother of his children, Lynda Strickland, and his right-hand man, for more than 30+ years, Ulysses Baxter. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother David Strickland (Jenny).
