Homer Olvin Welch, 80, of Blakely, Ga, passed away April 25, 2022 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. His memorial service will be held Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely Ga. with Dr. Alex Howell officiating. Homer was born on August 9, 1941 in Early County to the late Lannie Oakley Welch and Eunice Earl Jordan Welch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Linda Welch, sisters Merle Hodge, Dean Evans and Betty Hodges; and a brother J. D. "Bud" Welch. He was a member of the farming community many years, retiring from Birdsong Peanut in 2007. Homer was a hard worker, a dedicated father to his children and loving “Pa” to his grandchildren, along with several special grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he was “Pa” to. Homer was a God fearing man that loved the Lord and served in his church most of his life. He loved to play the guitar which was enjoyed by many. His survivors include a long time companion, Brenda Hughes along with her daughters, Donna and Becky and 3 grandchildren, Abbie, Brittany and Austin; 3 great grandchildren Reese, Cash and Bailey; two sons, David Welch and Clint Welch; one daughter Tanya Welch and 3 grandchildren, Shon, Seth and Shane. He has 2 sisters Debbie Cloud and Sandy Gipson. He has 5 brothers Eddie Welch, Odell Welch, Freddie Welch, Ronnie Welch and Gary Welch.
